Medical Policy
Hedgesville Hounds adheres to the guidelines set by the American Animal Hospital Association and has all of our rescued dogs vaccinated per AAHA guidelines with CORE vaccinations. We are grateful to Gaithersburg Animal Hospital of Gaithersburg, MD, Hillside Animal Hospital of Charles Town, WV and Dr. Townsend of All Creatures Veterinary, Martinsburg, WV for structuring their services at rescue rates.
Our vetting policy includes the provision of the following veterinary services and examinations, which are covered by your dog's adoption fee:

Preliminary physical exam checking coat and skin, eyes, ears, mouth, teeth and gums, heart, abdomen, lungs, legs and paws.

Neuter or spay and take-home medications like antibiotics or pain medications

Vaccinations including rabies, distemper, parvo and bordatella
-
4DX snap test for Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia canis, Ehrlichia ewingi, Anaplasma phagocytophilum and Anaplasma platys and treatment for any positive results.

Fecal exam and worming medication as needed

Microchip

Blood panel if recommended by vet

Dental scaling and polishing if vet so recommends
For Puppies:

We provide regular worming, distemper vaccines, and puppy boosters.

Once puppies are 12 weeks of age, we provide rabies -1 year.

We provide any additional treatment that may be warranted such as treatment for demodex, coccidia, or other infections.

Spay/neuter after the age of 6 months

Microchip at spay/neuter appointment

WE DO NOT support pediatric spay/neuter under the age of 6 months
